MDL0097 - ORIGAMI - 3D TRADITIONAL TULIPP (FROM A SQUARE)

This 3D inflatable tulip is a beautiful flower that has many folds in common with the dice or cube.

Fold it from a square of any thin paper in any color.

It starts with the Waterbomb Base, so if you need instructions for this base, follow the link in Step 1 below.

1. Begin by folding the Waterbomb or Balloon Base.

2. Position the resulting triangle  with its closed point facing away from you.

3. Fold the bottom left and right points, the top layer only, up to meet the top point to create a diamond shape that is divided down its vertical center.

  Crease and leave folded.

4. Flip the model over and repeat the last step on the other side.

5. Swing the left flap of the shape over to the right to reveal a smooth surface.

6. Flip the model over and repeat the last step on the other side.

7. Gently fold the model in half from top to bottom and make a light crease to mark the horizontal center.

Unfold.

 8. Flip the model over and repeat the last step on the other side.

9. Using the crease from the previous step and the vertical center crease, fold the left and right   flaps in towards the center so their points end up just below and just past the center horizontal and vertical lines.

This fold is thus made inwards and very slightly downwards so that the side flaps will end up touching or actually with the one on top of the other.

10. Unfold the flaps a little and then tuck   one   flap inside the other.

  Press flat.

11. Flip the model over and repeat the last step on the other side.

12. Gently Peel back the 4 petal flaps at the top of the tulip and curl them down if preferred.

13. To inflate the tulip,  blow into the hole that you will find at the bottom of the model.

 14. Make final adjustments to the shape of the flower  if necessary.
