FEATURED MODEL 1 - BLOOMING FLOWER BY BILL REYES (FROM A SQUARE)

This post is not a tutorial as such, but it does contain info and links for a text tutorial of a model on another site:

A while back I came across this model, submitted by Paula Versnick to the diagram pool on the CFC site as a verbal diagram.

Incidentally, checking the check box for "verbal diagrams" on this page will also yield some other submissions that you can find by visiting the link below:
CFC - Verbal Diagrams

I would classify it as an intermediate action model and like Paula, I found it to be an unusual and intriguing origami creation.
It uses a hexagon, which is then folded into the Preliminary Base, and includes sink, reverse folds and a few other techniques to achieve a movable structure that results in the final action model.

According to Google     Gemini 3 "It can be described as a "geometric transformer." It starts as a stiff, 3D star that fits in the palm of your hand. With a little twist, the "spikes" of the star unfold and relax outward to create a wide, beautiful flower that looks like it has multiple rows of petals."
This Youtube video shows the "Blooming Flower" in motion, which helps illustrate how the geometric star magically unfolds into a flower.

I have been fortunate to reach Paula via email and she patiently answered my numerous questions about this model. Paula would love to hear from those who use her text instructions, so feel free to contact her via the email on her site, orihouse.com if you would like help or may have ideas/suggestions.

One of the models Paula herself is famous for is the Two-Fold Santa. I hope to feature this and some of her other designs on accessorigami in future.
