Description: This is a very easy way to create a hanging ornament or a pair of earrings. The finished model is a long, slender, hollow 3D shape that starts from a narrow point at the top, gradually widening into a triangular shape at the bottom. It is accomplished by first folding the Blintz Base, then making a few simple folds and lastly, tucking in one side of the shape into the other.
To use this model for making earrings, fold it from small, shiny squares and attach earring findings.
NOTE:  This model starts from the blintz base. If you are able to achieve this without instructions, fold the blintz base once, then go to Step 5.

Step 1
Place a square piece of paper, color-side down, with its edges to the left and right, top and bottom.
Step 2
Fold the left edge over to meet the right edge. Crease and unfold.
Step 3
Fold the bottom edge up to meet the top edge. Crease and unfold.
Step 4
Make the Blintz fold by using the method you prefer to fold all four corners in to meet at the center of the square.
When pressed flat, you should end up with a smaller, two-layered square with the top layer made up of four loose triangular flaps.
Make sure that, as far as possible, all outside corners are folded neatly at a 90 degree angle and that the crease lines all lie straight and meet precisely in the center of the square.
Step 5
Rotate the folded square so the corners are now at the top and bottom, left and right (diamond orientation).
Step 6
Starting from the top point of the diamond shape, make two diagonal folds by bringing the left and right sides in to meet each other along the vertical center of the model.
You will now have a kite shape, with its long, skinny part facing away from you.
Step 7
Fold the bottom point away from you as far as it will go. It will be stopped by the already-folded flaps of the kite shape.
Make a strong crease and then unfold.
Step 8
Now, also unfold the left and right flaps and refold the bottom triangle along its existing crease.
Notice that, behind the folded triangle, there will be a horizontal edge on the inside of the model that was formed when the Blintz Base was folded in Step 4.
This edge will serve as our pocket for the next step.
Step 9
Next, pick the figure up. While holding it in the palm of one hand, bring one of the sides over and tuck it into the small pocket you will find on the inside of the opposite edge of the shape.
Put in another way, you want to form the paper into a long, triangular, 3D shape, by tucking in the right flap into the pocket on the inside of the left flap (or the other way around). In the process the original center vertical crease will form a strong mountain crease, causing the final shape to have three, long sides.
Step 10
Holding the model at the narrow end, reinforce the three sides of the ornament by pinching from the outside.
The creases need to be very strong to hold the ornament in its shape.
Make sure the bottom, open sides of the finished figure are straight and smooth.
For the sake of durability, use a dab of glue to secure the sides you have folded over in the last step.
